Community healing, built to outlast us.

The Grounded Collective creates access, programming, and lasting infrastructure for community healing and legacy building — for high school and college-age youth finding their footing, and for adults rebuilding through second-chance facilities, shelters, and reentry partners.

Our mission

Roots first, always.

We believe healing isn't complete until it's shared — and that community legacy is built one accessible program, one honest conversation, one rebuilt system at a time. The Grounded Collective exists to make healing and opportunity something a whole community can stand on, not just something an individual has to find alone.

Our work centers two groups too often left to figure it out alone: high school and college-age youth building the foundation for who they'll become, and adults rebuilding their lives through second-chance facilities — shelters, reentry programs, and partners like A Step to Freedom. We build programming with the people closest to it, not for them, and measure success by what outlasts us.

Founded by Myjoi Copeland, The Grounded Collective is advised and supported by Queens Build, its parent organization.
Our programs

Where the work actually happens.

Youth Leadership & Mentorship

For high school and college-age youth — mentors who reflect their communities, plus real support building the foundation for what's next.

Second-Chance Partnerships

Programming built alongside shelters and reentry organizations like A Step to Freedom, supporting adults rebuilding after incarceration or homelessness.

Community Healing Circles

Accessible, low-barrier spaces for collective processing and support — healing that doesn't require a diagnosis to enter.
